We will start our tour at Jaffa Gate, the main gate between old Jerusalem and modern Jerusalem. Jaffa gate is one of the 8 gates and is the main entrance to the old city built in 1538. Here you will have the chance to take pictures with the beautiful ancient walls as a backdrop before you enter the magical streets of the old city and be transported back into ancient times…

David Citadel look out:  “The Tower of David”

The Tower is a medieval fortress that is located near the Jaffa Gate.

We will ascend to the top of the tower for a spectacular panoramic view of the Judean Desert, Dead Sea Valley, Mount of Olives, Mount Zion, the four quarters and the holy sites of the old city.

From David citadel, we will walk through the colorful market towards the roman cardo and the Jewish quarter

Roman “cardo” the heart of the Jewish quarter

The Cardo was the main street or the heart in Ancient Jerusalem during the Roman period. Walking through the same streets one can feel the life of those streets, the enticing aromas of the street food, the clamor of street vendors and children playing while their parents bargained and shopped. From here, we will walk to the Jewish Quarter with its beautiful synagogues and lively streets. We will continue our walk outside the walls of the old city to Mount Zion.

Mount of Zion

Mount Zion is located outside the walls of the old city near Zion Gate. The Mountain is holy for Jews, Muslims and Christians. We will visit the Dormition Abbey where Virgin Mary fell into an eternal sleep, the room of the last supper where Jesus had his last meal with his disciples the night before he was crucified. We will finish our visit to the Mountain at King David’s tomb. From mount zion we will go back into the old city and walk down to the holiest place of the Jewish world

The western wall

On the way to the western wall, we will walk through the famous colorful market where we can quench our thirst with freshly squeezed juices or stop off for a delicious hummus shawarma or falafel.

The first sight of the Western Wall is a magical moment that takes you back 2000 years of Jewish history to where the holy temple used to be. The wall is a supporting wall of the megastructure of the temple build by King Herod. The wall is also known as the” Wailing Wall” depicting the crying of the Jewish people in the diaspora who could not pray at the wall

At the wall you will be able to take some time for yourselves to pray or quietly observe and feel the special feeling. You can write a note with your hopes and dreams and put it in a crack in the wall.

Via Dolorosa- the Way of the Cross

After the wall We will continue through the Muslim quarter to the “via dolorosa” – the path of pain. We will walk in the footsteps of Jesus to the site of his crucifixion through the main stations on this path.

the Church of the Holy Sepulcher

The Church of the Holy Sepulcher is the most sacred site in the world for millions of Christians. This is the site of the crucifixion, burial and resurrection of Jesus. The church was built in 324 AC by Saint Helena and her son Emperor Constantine who accepted Christianity and made it the official religion of the Roman Empire. The church was rebuilt in the 12th century by the Crusaders. Today the church is home to Orthodox, Catholics, Armenians, Coptics and Ethiopians. Inside the church, we will visit the Calvary rock upon which Jesus was crucified, the rock where his body was prepared for burial and the tomb where Jesus is buried.

From the church, we will walk back to Jaffa gate where we end the tour
